The Slippery Rock football team continued their hot start Saturday evening, topping Mercyhurst 41-21.

Hickory grad Zach Cirillo got the Rock on the board first when he caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Roland Rivers to make it 7-0 Slippery Rock.

It did not take long for SRU to double their lead when Rivers snuck it in from 1-yard out to make it 14-0 in the 2nd quarter.

Slippery Rock would score the first 28 points in the game to take a 28-0 lead in the 2nd quarter.

Ursuline grad and SRU DL Jeff Marx had 4 total tackles in the game.

The win moves Slippery Rock to 4-1 on the year, they travel to IUP on October 6th.
