Slippery Rock Police
Feb. 20 — Ryan C. Combs, 22, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle wreck earlier this month on the 400 block of Elm Street.
Police said Combs’ car Feb. 4 struck the back of a sport utility vehicle that was parked on the side of the road. He then backed up and hit a utility pole. The car had severe damage and the SUV had moderate damage.
The defendant admitted that he “had a few” alcoholic beverages prior to driving, according to court documents. He later failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Slippery Rock University police station for a breath test.
Police said his blood-alcohol level was 0.102 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Combs is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.

12:59 p.m. Feb. 17 — A Slippery Rock University student was caught with suspected drug contraband after police were called for the smell of marijuana coming from a dorm room at Watson Hall.
Police said Rowen B. Mayes, 19, of Hillsborough, NJ, was found with a vaporizer pen that had suspected marijuana residue in it. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
