The Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau honored the companies, businesses and individuals that enhance local tourism at an annual dinner on Thursday.
“Toast To Tourism” was held at the Butler Country Club and featured local food, drinks and products. The bureau awarded $50,000 in grants to 16 local businesses and organizations that promote tourism in the county and move forward with various projects that will enrich the Butler County visitor’s experience.
Bureau President Jack Cohen said tourism is the county’s top industry, bringing $590 million into the economy in 2016.

Additionally, an individual was recognized as the Ambassador of the Year for their extraordinary contributions to Butler County’s tourism industry and scholarship awards were distributed to two local college students.
Slippery Rock University student Jodie Christie – Resort, Recreation and Hospitality Management Major – received a scholarship award along with Butler County Community College student, Skylar Wyman, Hospitality Major. Ed Tanski of Buttercup Woodlands Campground was recognized as the Ambassador of the Year.
