Environmental science students from Slippery Rock University who are studying air quality analysis furthered their knowledge during a recent tour of the Heritage Thermal Services Inc. hazardous waste incinerator in East Liverpool.

During their half-day visit, students heard from HTS materials processing manager Steve Lorah (shown), as he explained the facility’s emissions control system, which cleans and scrubs flue gas generated by incineration.

Class professor Michael Stapleton thanked HTS officials after the tour, saying, “It is good to have students in a working facility.”
