An 86-year-old woman from Slippery Rock fell asleep while driving on Route 8 in Brady Township and ended up wedging her car between two trees, according to state police.
The accident took place around 02:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The woman was transferred from the scene to be treated for seemingly mild injuries. She described having chest pain.
Police declined to immediately release her name.
The vehicle, a Subaru Legacy, was headed north. She struck a mailbox on her right, then swerved to the left, crossing the oncoming lane of traffic and hitting the trees.
