Slippery Rock Man Charged For Stabbing Man In Neck

A Slippery Rock man is facing charges of attempted homicide for stabbing a New Castle man in the neck on Wednesday.

Pennsylvania State Police said Kalin Snyder, 22, got into an altercation with the victim, Joshua Kline, 22, of New Castle, before stabbing him with a hunting knife.

The victim underwent surgery at a Pittsburgh hospital, and police said he is in stable condition.

Officials say the victim was visiting Snyder at his Grossman Lane home when the altercation broke out and Snyder allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck with a large serrated hunting knife.

Authorities said the victim was able to wrestle the knife away from Snyder.

State Police say the defendant and the victim in this case are friends but they are also both suspects in a recent theft, which police believe was the motive behind Wednesday’s stabbing.

The alleged incident happened about 1:00 a.m. Wednesday just over the Butler County line in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.

According to court documents, 22-year-olds Joshua Kline of New Castle and Kalin Snyder of Slippery Rock Township are suspects in an alleged $2,200 theft which happened on St. Patrick’s Day. The two were apparently meeting to discuss that matter because one of the men was scheduled to appear at the State Police Mercer barracks that day for an interview when Synder is accused of pulling a 7-inch hunting knife and stabbing Kline in the neck.

What happened next is bizarre as police say Synder then “insisted on taking the victim to the hospital,” according to police.

Snyder is facing charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and tampering with evidence. He is in Lawrence County Jail with a bond set at $250,000.
