A Petrolia woman was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital Thursday morning after a head-on crash on Route 308 left her trapped and injured, authorities said.
Marion Township and West Sunbury volunteers worked for about 30 minutes to extricate 23-year-old Taylor Eng from the Ford Focus she was driving at about 6:30 a.m.
Eng was conscious and talking to rescuers and complained of leg, arm and side pain, said Rob Hairhoger of the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Authorities said Eng was traveling south to work when a northbound Chevrolet Impala driven by Erik Crooks, 49, of Hilliards collided with her car about three miles north of Moniteau High School.
Crooks, who also was headed to work, suffered apparent minor injuries but refused ambulance transport.
Slippery Rock EMS assisted in treating both drivers.
A STAT MedEvac helicopter landed in a field next to the crash scene and flew Eng to UPMC Presbyterian hospital. Her condition was not known.
State police are investigating, but an accident report was not immediately available.
