Slippery Rock Bank Robber To Serve Extra Year In Jail After Walking Away From Halfway House

1022

A convicted bank robber from Slippery Rock who escaped from federal custody will spend another year in prison as a result.

In 2016, Walter Cody Tribble, 43, was in the middle of a three-year stint at a halfway house following nine years in prison for three armed bank robbery convictions.

Prosecutors say that on Dec. 3, 2016 he was allowed to leave the Renewal Center in Pittsburgh, a halfway house, to go to a local business.

Tribble was supposed to be back by a specific time that evening but never returned.

More than a year would pass before the U.S. Marshals found him in Crawford County on Jan. 18.

On Friday, Tribble was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti to spend another year and a day behind bars.
