11:57 p.m. March 9 — A Westmoreland County man was arrested by Slippery Rock University Police for drunken driving on Kiester Road at West Lake Lane. Police said they pulled over Shane M. Churma, 21, of Trafford for driving without his headlights on.
He admitted that he had been drinking and was coming from a Slippery Rock bar, court documents said. He subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the station for a breath test.
Police said Churma’s blood-alcohol level was 0.103 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
He is charged with driving under the influence and a lighting violation.
